Resist 02:53
Resist Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall It’s my time to forgive, My soul for the tears, That I cried over you, A million times I can’t resist. All the guilt and the pain, When will it ever end? Silent I will always pay for The way I can’t resist. A million times I can’t resist For the rest of my life I will long for your light I’ll just wait for that taste The kiss I can’t resist. All I see, is the way He treats you, everyday But you run, back to him The way you can’t resist. A million times I can’t resist. The way you break my heart. The way you can’t resist The way you break my heart.

Shape the Shackles Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall The shape of….the shackles…your destined…to follow…. The lies…can be heard in the cries The fears…can be seen in the tears With no….purpose in life but to fear Now your breaking the dreams of the weak Now you try to walk away Saying please not today Why does this happen? It’s all too much this………. The peace you will never find Destined to walk the line How does this happen? It’s just too much this time. You…feast on the struggles within Again…over and over again Now…your purpose in life is clear To shape the shackles your destined to wear Now you try to walk away Saying please not today Why does this happen? It’s all too much this……. The peace you will never find Destined to walk the line How does this happen? It’s just too much this time.

For $ale 03:12
For $ale Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall Well you make a wish on your birthday, For things that just don’t amount. The candles burn so brightly, But one by one they go out. Your tongue so wicked, it’s borrowed By all the sheep that come out. While all the wolves are waiting, To steal the power through out. For sale, your life means nothing In time, your light burns out Just drop your wish in a bottle, And wait for the day to come around. Or put your faith in the good book, And rape the fortunes you find. You preach on all that’s holy, Turn all the water into wine. Through all the smoke and the mirrors, Can’t hide the greed in your eyes. For sale, your soul means nothing. In time, your light burns out For sale, your life means nothing. In time, your light burns out
4.
Invisible Ink Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall It’s so quiet in your little world, Lost in stories on pages curled. Around and around the emotions of love, That fill your heart with thoughts of above. It calls you away deep in the night, The dreams and visions of another life. Safe and sound away from the fears No longer scared and soaked from the tears. Invisible Ink…is not the cure The more you hide….the more it calls Invisible Ink….can’t hide the scars The more you try….the more you fall. The lies that you tell yourself, From all the times you’ve been put on a shelf. You know they know how to break you down, The peace you seek is lost and never found. Those shoes that you can never fill, The loss of life that haunts your still. All the lines you cut deep in your flesh, Your cry out to start afresh. Invisible Ink…is not the cure The more you hide….the more it calls Invisible Ink….can’t hide the scars The more you try….the more you fall.

Weight 04:39
Weight Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall You push it down, the same damn hate Can’t stop it now, your final fate. Feelings aside, they just get in the way They pick at you, all day and night The words they burn like fire and ice The monster screams, why care what it says? You pay for this hell everyday The pressure, the weight You pick it up, the cold blue steel Just do it now, a time to kill The reasons burn away the tears Your blood runs cold, the final time Just throw the switch they’ll see the sign Release the weight You soul turns black You pay for this hell everyday The pressure, the weight

Fourth Wall 04:03
Fourth Wall Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall There is a feeling that somethings not right. Like eyes are watching both day and night. Trapped in a prison of our own design. Living our lives one scene at a time. On stage for the watcher’s to cheer. The fourth wall there’s nothing to fear. The looking glass, or a mirror to me? The fourth wall for all to see. Now there’s a sense that this life isn’t real The watcher’s eyes that are trying to steal We play the part in a story to tell Is this a role or a living hell? You only see what they want you to be The puppets dance, the strings you can’t see Trapped in the scenes from a memory If you believe then you’ll never be free. On stage for the watcher’s to cheer. The fourth wall there’s nothing to fear. The looking glass, or a mirror to me? The fourth wall for all to see.

The Plan 04:30
The Plan Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall I wanted more than I asked for I stayed longer than I should I thought I had all the answers For all the ones….misunderstood For years and years I looked for solace In all the things that causes pain The devil walks here beside me. In these shadows that hide my shame. I threw away the things that mattered Some days I find it hard to stand Still reaching out to find the ladder That leads me back to the plan Too speak the words, “I am sorry” Seems like an easy thing to say So many lives have been taken, Never to be seen again. They say that time is borrowed And we must all pay for it someday The minutes and hours burn so quickly Time takes these ashes all away.

Flood 03:15
Flood Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall You can’t keep the dirt out six feet in the ground You won’t stop the rising flood, no matter how tall you stand. Allow me to introduce the me I used to be, When you want to welcome yourself to me Always threatening to turn over a new leaf So don’t waste the bitter and the sweet. You can’t keep the dirt out six feet in the ground You won’t stop the rising flood, no matter how tall you stand. Well don’t you know you shouldn’t talk to strangers You may not like all the hidden dangers That goes along with the conversation Your tired shit just tries my patience. You can’t keep the dirt out six feet in the ground You won’t stop the rising flood, no matter how tall you stand. The wind won’t stop blowing, no matter the war you bring The water takes the shape of anything that it can.

Five by Five 04:50
FIVE by FIVE Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall You have forced this hand, An act that cannot stand. Treason for the men, That will not defend. Now our freedom under fire, From those that have desire. To kill our right to choose, Distort the truth…confuse. 5 x 5….Am I clear? 5 x 5….The end is near. 5 x 5….Can you hear? 5 x 5….The messiah is here! Tolerance that you preach upon, Seems to hide behind your tongue. You never really want it to end, That would be the ultimate sin. Indifference for the truth, Injustice, persecution and dispute. If I said I understand, All those reasons you can’t defend. While they lay wreaths upon the graves, Thinking that it will all go away Putting faces on each war they wage. The final price never equals the rage. They all want the same. The power, sex and fame. The addictions draws you in, To serve the seven sins. All the places never seen, Wanting more of the obscene. One rule your need to know, Is sell yourself for more. 5 x 5….Am I clear? 5 x 5….The end is near. 5 x 5….Can you hear? 5 x 5….The messiah is here! When will we learn, the hurt is growing. With every turn, the earth is burning. The silent man, full of devotion. His heart is bound on the destruction Too many times, the signs were clear Can’t stop it now, the end is near!

My Parade 03:34
My Parade Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall This is where I wait A path leads to my fate A trade for the life I take Cold walls that can’t break This sickness never goes away Your misery is my parade Your mind is where I prey Relive those thoughts that stay No peace until ….that May Now asleep, my final day This silence is day to day Deep down the layers peel away This sickness never goes away Your misery is my parade. This is where I lay These ashes that blow away No words, no final say My misery is your parade. This silence is day to day Deep down the layers peel away This sickness never goes away Your misery is my parade.

The Obsession Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall I - Birth A son… was born… in a land all alone, TIn a year…. before the storm. Taken…far away… across the open seas Never to return…a king to be Some day… he will hear the call Of the obsession, and of the fall II - The Uprising Bonds formed in the dark of night To burn the line of blood that unites Men stand in the name of greed Each willing to take the lead Now they seek only one desire, To take the crown of the last true sire Feeding on the fear and hate This obsession will seal their fate III - The Downfall The battle rages….on and on Men, women, children…families torn Fighting for freedom …..of the unborn The weight of man…will break the bond. IV - The Destruction The years have passed, a life’s work over Memories remain, the fire grows older The one’s who follow, their lives grow colder Standing on ashes, the obsession is over V - Return A son was born. In a year before the storm This man remains thru all the fear and pain The blood of kings will fight to take the reign.

Convictions 03:35
Convictions Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall Where’s the line between truth and fiction? When a man had faith and conviction In the way he held his head. Apologies come by the dozens Only sorry when you get caught In the lie of the day. Now maybe it’s time to take back our pride and fight.... Only love what you can borrow On the backs of the ones of tomorrow There’s a sickness in our face. We take and take until there’s no tomorrow We just give into the sorrow That’s created in our minds Now maybe it’s time to take back our pride and fight.... Now we all feel guilt in succeeding Regret is failure for all the wrong reasons Its such a sad state that were in. Trust who they say follow Even if their soul is hollow, We try to reason, with ourselves. Now maybe it’s time to take back our pride. And fight..... for our lives.

Ties that Bind Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall We all wear these faces that try to hide the traces Of where the bad things go...... These cobwebs tell a tale of a mind that's distant And can never be whole..... These ties that bind I find…fit me well A mask that hides the sorrow, of what may come tomorrow. We wait for it to unfold..... The scars from all the seasons, there are no simple reasons. Sometimes we just lose control...... These ties that bind I find…fit me well All of this wishful thinking Is wrong and overrated These sacred places Have lost their soul These ties that bind I find…fit me well These ties that bind I find…fit me well

Apathy 05:53
Apathy Lyrics written by Robert M. Duvall The devil in me….I can’t explain The awful truth….that still remains Well it’s not what I did, but its still the same Night after night…I can’t feel the shame All I want to do is run away, can’t face another day Can’t fix the tragedy, not blind but I don’t want to see The further I get away, from all this apathy We stand alone…and all obey The sleep in our eyes..well it’s all okay Just swallow the pill…it all goes away No lessons learned…just another day All we do is run away, we can’t face another day We won’t fix the tragedy, no matter the scenes we see. Further that we get away, from all the apathy

about

Released in late 2016, Cipher is the second self produced album from the independent Texas band, Day of One.

Listeners will hear influences ranging from Classic Rock to Heavy Metal and 90’s Alternative to Progressive rock. Thick harmonies, powerful orchestral arrangements, heavy guitars and thought provoking lyrics meld together into a diverse soundscape that tends to fall outside of most musical genres.

Songs like For $ale, Weight, Shape The Shackles, Convictions, Ties That Bind and Apathy explore such subjects as greed, sickness, religion, conformity, self worth, bullying and the overall apathetic outlook that seems to feed all around us. Other songs such as Flood, Invisible Ink and The Plan explore how we cope with certain realizations within ourselves and how we let pride, denial and fear define us.

The Obsession tells a tale of a beloved King that is over thrown by greedy power hungry conspirators. After a decades long battle ensues for power and control; a son returns from exile to reclaim his bloodline as King and restores peace to a broken kingdom.

The Fourth Wall is based on the theatrical term for an imaginary fourth wall in which the audience watches while the actors remain unaware of the observers. Some of you may feel trapped in your own play while the watchers cheer?

Finally, FIVE by FIVE is a term used to describe the quality of a communication and is used as an anthem in the song to communicate and confirm that a Messiah is coming; but at what cost, and can it be trusted?
